Taking inspiration from Steven Holl’s Queens Public Library, the project explored a potential slab renovation of the Brighton Beach BPL. During this investigation, we heard from the Library’s manager, who stressed the importance of the building as a cultural center where many groups put on performances and the library’s importance to the nearby school for afterschool activities. 

     Using what I learned, I centered the redesign around those key activities, with the addition of dedicated performance areas and the inclusion of separate areas for teens and children
